Each of these cultural norms the schools engrain in the student is beneficial in one form or another, but each system is far from perfect. The emphasis on careers is beneficial when planning for the future, and Maplewood does assist in course management. However, the emphasis on college is not quite as developed as it could be preventing students from meeting to necessary requirements or knowledge needed for their desired school. Middle Brook is quite the opposite. So much of the attention in that school is focused on the application process and how to get into the desired college that what happens next tends to be over looked. Not enough emphasis is placed on career development so when the students do successfully get into college they are lost in a sens e. Del Vista just supports mediocrity. While they do guide students to graduation and encourage college, they don’t strive to bring these kids to their best abilities. So, while every one of these methods helps students in one way or another all the normative cultures supported by these schools fall short somewhere. 2.
